Description
This Extreme Cold Weather sleeping bag from the USA means business - they really are extreme. Weighing in at just over 4 and a half kilos, this bad boy is not for your summer hikes and was rated for temperatures as low as -20F (nearly -30 Celsius for kiwi-speak)!
These thick, lofty, groovy cocoons were issued from the 70's up until around the 2000's - keeping troops warm for ages. Featuring the tapered mummy/sarcophagus shape for heat retention, these are quilted, insulated with feather down and have polyester batting in the storm flap. These have a roomy canoe-shaped toe box too. The exterior is constructed from a water repellant, durable poplin cotton and has two very handy ties for securing when rolled up. Keeping these sleeping bags in optimal condition for such harsh environments required a few rules for use, as noted on legible inner tags.
These are becoming harder to find and our small batch are in Good condition, varying in a range of dates and manufacturers. Pick up one of these old school olive extreme sleeping bags if you long to sleep snuggly in the cold (or just love wicked gear).
